Job Title: Synology NAS Implementation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Synology NAS Implementation Specialist. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for providing remote technical services for the setup, integration, and validation of Synology SA3410 NAS units.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hardware Validation: Verify hardware components including drives, RAM, NICs, and rail kits. Ensure firmware and DSM are up-to-date.
  • System Installation and Configuration: Install DSM operating system and configure SSD cache and RAID using enterprise SAS HDDs. Create and manage storage volumes based on project requirements.
  • NAS Integration: Integrate NAS with the client's Active Directory for centralized authentication and management.
  • Shared Folder Setup: Create classroom-specific shared folders with appropriate role-based access controls for teachers and students.
  • Access Testing and System Performance Optimization: Conduct access testing to validate permissions for different roles. Perform basic system performance testing and optimization.
  • Knowledge Transfer and Documentation: Deliver a best practices guide covering system usage, data protection, and maintenance.
  • Remote Expert Support: Provide up to 8 hours of remote expert support during setup, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience with Synology NAS Solutions: Proven experience with Synology NAS solutions (SA3410 or similar models).
  • Strong Knowledge of DiskStation Manager (DSM): Strong knowledge of DiskStation Manager (DSM), RAID configurations, and SSD caching.
  • Active Directory Integration and Role-Based Access Management: Hands-on experience with Active Directory integration and role-based access management.
  • Shared Folder Setup, Permissions, and Security Configurations: Expertise in shared folder setup, permissions, and security configurations.
  • Data Protection, Backup Strategies, and System Best Practices: Familiarity with data protection, backup strategies, and system best practices.
  • Troubleshooting and Performance Optimization Skills: Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization skills.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills for conducting training and walkthroughs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., Synology Certified, CompTIA Server+, or equivalent).
  • Experience in Educational IT Environments: Experience working in educational IT environments or with classroom-specific IT setups.
