Data Centre Network Engineer

We at Amazon Data Services India Private Limited (ADSIPL) are seeking a highly skilled Cabling Infrastructure Engineer to join our dynamic team within Infrastructure Operations. The ideal candidate will work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment to drive the stability and sustainability of our next-generation networks and develop innovative ways to automate and scale our network as we expand.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Ensure adherence to security and safety best practices in the data centre.
  • Install and test copper and fibre optic cabling.
  • Create and attach labels and barcodes.
  • Understand test equipment, including power meters, light sources, OTDRs, VFLs, network analysers, and copper/fibre cabling test equipment.
  • Perform basic build and troubleshooting of network devices.
  • Manage inventory of related materials by checking and coordinating all materials to be delivered to site daily.
  • Adhere to defined escalation processes and standard operating procedures.
  • Work in noisy areas with hotter and colder temperatures than standard office environmental conditions.
  • Regularly work at heights and from ladders.
  • Experience with a ticketing system.
  • Ability to travel within geographical work area required.
  • Occasional work in tight and/or narrow spaces, such as under raised floors.
Basic Qualifications
  • Diploma/Graduation in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1-2 years' experience in project management or operations planning.
  • 1-2 years' experience with physical network infrastructure deployment and troubleshooting.
  • 1-2 years' experience with network cabling (fibre optic & copper).
  • English language communication ability.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware and network cabling.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment, displaying excellent time management skills and the ability to follow direction.
  • Able to work at heights or use ladders for continued periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and high-quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Substantial background in large-scale datacentre network implementations and support.
  • Knowledge of copper and fibre optic testing methodologies.
  • Ability to read basic layout drawings and floor plans.
  • Industry-standard certifications (CompTIA, City & Guilds Cabling certification or equivalent).
  • Previous experience working in a data centre environment (racking and stacking gear, cable management).
