Database Administration Specialist Position

We are seeking an experienced Database Administration Specialist to join our organization.

Job Description:

  • Install, configure, and manage databases to ensure optimal data access.
  • Monitor database performance, space utilization, and availability.
  • Manage sets, subsets, and indexes for efficient data retrieval.
  • Handle database backups, journals, and roll-forward recovery procedures.
  • Support schema changes and perform database reorganizations as required.
  • Assist in capacity planning and ensure data consistency across environments.
  • Collaborate with application and system teams to troubleshoot performance or access issues.
  • Participate in disaster recovery testing and ensure compliance with backup policies.
  • Implement and maintain security, audit trails, and user access controls.
  • Document DBA processes, configuration, and recovery procedures for future reference.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong hands-on experience with database administration.
  • Knowledge of database management tools.
  • Understanding of journaling, quiet point backups, and roll-forward recovery techniques.
  • Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues.
  • Familiarity with programming languages and mainframe integration.
  • Knowledge of batch jobs, operational support tasks, and ODBC/JDBC integration.
  • Basic experience with automation scripts for monitoring or DBA tasks.
