Job Description:

This role involves purchasing and merchandising for the kids' department.

About the Job:

  • Contribute to the development of the divisional buying and merchandising strategy, driving sales growth through product sourcing and vendor coordination.
  • Work closely with the merchandising team to ensure timely delivery of merchandise, analyzing market trends and customer needs to inform product decisions.
  • Identify future product opportunities by researching customer preferences and technological advancements, developing pricing strategies in collaboration with the marketing department.
  • Sources products that meet customer requirements and maximize current sourcing channels, supporting negotiations and vendor relationships to achieve best costs and margins.
  • Collaborate with designers on style development, informing best sellers for move-on styles and managing stock levels, style options, quantities, promotions, and markdowns with the merchandising team.
  • Monitor competitors' activities through market research to track trends and forecasting, developing promotional plans and reviewing season and weekly plans.
  • Pursue vendor identification and development, obtaining range merchandise after effective negotiation, working with marketing and design to develop visual merchandising promotions.
  • Ensure timely delivery of samples by vendors, set standards for quality of merchandise with QA, reconcile store plans and fix departmental financial plans.
  • Conduct annual review of supplier performance with QA, pursue and recover all money due from vendors as a result of performance penalties or markdown and promotional contributions.
  • Update the front-end on key product benefits, ensuring alignment with customer needs and business objectives.
