US Sports News Editor

We're seeking an experienced US sports news editor to join our dynamic editorial team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has a passion for sports and a keen eye for detail. As a US sports news editor, you will be responsible for editing and publishing high-quality articles on various sports topics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Edit and publish 20-25 articles daily.
  • Proofread articles to eliminate errors and check for plagiarism before publication.
  • Research to ensure fact accuracy and identify incorrect claims.
  • Publish articles in a timely fashion for priority news-based articles.
  • Mentor and guide writers to refine their quality, output, and performance.
  • Ensure smooth daily operations of writers in the sport division.
  • Perform other key duties as instructed by the Editorial Team Lead.

  • You have a good grasp of English language fundamentals and American culture.
  • You're quick with fact-checking and enhancing editorial quality.
  • You take ownership of publishing articles on time and are flexible for event-coverage days.
  • You have leadership qualities, are a good judge of character, and have people management skills.
  • You have a keen eye for enticing titles and subheadings and possess basic SEO knowledge.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 6-12 months of experience in proofreading and/or content editing.
  • Prior experience of leading a team of writers would be an additional plus.
