
FMCG Category Manager

Are you a seasoned professional with expertise in managing category teams? Do you have excellent leadership and training skills? We are seeking a highly motivated Category Manager to join our team.
This role involves leading a team of 8-10 members, managing the entire region comprising of approximately 20-30 stores. You will be responsible for managing buying National & Regional FMCG brands, conducting classroom and on-the-job training for team members, grooming and developing them, and coordinating with various teams to ensure smooth business operations.
The ideal candidate should have a graduate/postgraduate degree, at least 10 years of experience in FMCG sales, and strong knowledge of local languages/location. They should possess excellent communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, as well as good team management and training skills.
- Key Responsibilities:
- The role holder will manage the Category FMCG team for the assigned Region. He/She will be responsible for managing the entire region comprising of approximately 20-30 stores.
- Will be leading a team of 8-10 members for buying National & Regional FMCG brands.
- Conducting classroom and on-the-job training for the team members.
- Groom and develop the team members reporting into him/her.
- He/She shall coordinate and address challenges in buying and movement of goods from vendor to DC and DC to stores leading up to sales to ensure smooth business operations.
- Shall meet Key vendor partners on regular basis for negotiations , forecasting and category development initiatives.
- Closely working with various teams including Store Operations, Supply Chain, core Purchase and Central purchase to maximize offtakes and ensure best promotions in stores.
- Discuss and close Monthly, Quarterly plans with FMCG vendors including demand planning, Promotions and smooth supplies to stores.
- Responsible for training and grooming Purchase officers and Asst Purchase managers on the job as well in class room trainings.
- Solely responsible for availability in DC as well stores day in day out.
- Maintaining competitive pricing in market shall be his/her core job.
Requisites:
- Must be a Graduate /Post Graduate/MBA with minimum 10 Years experience in FMCG Sales.
- Experience in General Trade will be preferred.
- Must be experienced in managing a similar role.
- Knowledge of local language / location of posting, is required.
- Must be willing to travel.
- Must possess good communication, negotiation, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
- Must have very good team management and training skills.
