Senior Intellectual Property Strategist

We are seeking an experienced Senior Intellectual Property Strategist to join our team. As a key member of our intellectual property department, you will play a vital role in identifying and mitigating potential intellectual property risks, developing strategies to strengthen our company's culture of innovation.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Graduate / PG / PhD qualification in Engineering (Mechanical / Electronics / Automotive / Material Science)

Additional Qualifications:

  • World Intellectual Property Organization Diploma (WON)
  • WIPO DL101
  • Design for Six Sigma (DFSS)
  • Qualified Patent Agent Exam will be an advantage

Experience:

  • 18+ Years

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Review and analyze new product designs to identify potential areas of intellectual property risk, develop strategies to mitigate these risks and strengthen the company's culture of innovation.
  2. Develop and execute search strategies to conduct Freedom to Operate (FTO) analysis, state-of-the-art searches, and invalidation/opposition research.
  3. Perform advanced patent and competitor portfolio analysis for patent and non-patent literature, leveraging tools like IT and data analytics for effective search and analysis.
  4. Collaborate with IP attorneys and legal associates to review and recommend FTO decisions for IP tests, and close IP FTO opinion reports in a timely manner.
  5. Plan and conduct Bill of Materials (BOM) FTO reviews for new products across automotive technology domains, implement best-in-class practices, standardize processes, and enhance productivity through digitalization.
  6. Release periodic IP alerts, review and dispose concerns from stakeholders, effectively build conviction with stakeholders, and manage projects/business clusters independently.
  7. Plan, conduct FTO, state-of-the-art search analysis on Latest Relevant Patents (LRP) / advanced technology, and trigger timely protection for all forms of IP across major global jurisdictions.
  8. Be well-versed with industry best practices and state-of-the-art tools for IP searches, perform searches across multiple jurisdictions, and plan and carry out searches for SOA, FTO, litigation, and invalidation/opposition search in liaison with legal associates.
  9. Review and resolve claim interpretation issues in FTO with stakeholders, liaise with legal team for effective disposal, maintain confidentiality of IP matters, systematically docket records, and promote best-in-class IP culture.
