Cloud Operations Engineer for Enterprise Cloud Landscape

About the Role

Autodesk is seeking a highly skilled Senior AWS Operations Engineer to join our talented Operations team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in administering and managing our Enterprise cloud landscape.

Responsibilities
  • Investigate problems, identify root causes, and collaborate with multiple teams during major and critical outages;
  • Implement Security Best-Practices to our Enterprise Infrastructure;
  • Drive performance, scalability, and availability of application resources;
  • Implement organization's continuous delivery mechanism more effectively;
  • Work with internal customers to understand requirements and implement configuration changes, debug logs, and maintain documentation;
  • Optimize scaling/performance of application resources;
  • Carry out deployments as part of Business Flexible Releases and Infrastructure Maintenance Releases;
  • Implement preventative and corrective measures;
  • Drive Project Initiatives, ITIL Queue Management, Coordinate Release Activities;
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, plus 5-7 years progressive professional experience;
  • Minimum of three years hands-on experience with production AWS systems;
  • Experience in GitHub, Jenkins, CI/CD;
  • Hands on experience in EC2, Dockers, Container Services, AWS Lambda, Step Functions, AWS CLI, CloudFormation, Terraform, Route53, CloudFront;
  • Experience in deployment and configuration management tools like Chef or Puppet;
  • Experience supporting Apache, tomcat, jetty or similar servers;
  • Effective use of Auto Scaling, Monitoring, logging;
  • Knowledge of AWS security features and best practices;
  • Experience designing self-healing and fault-tolerant services;
  • Knowledge of Techniques and strategies for maintaining high availability;
  • Strong system administration experience (Linux/Unix or Windows);
  • Experience with multi-tier architectures: load balancers, caching, web servers, application servers, databases, networking;
  • Understanding monitoring techniques in a dynamic environment;
  • Strong communication skills, ability to communicate at all levels of the organization;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, event-driven environment; Availability for 24x7 rotational shift work; Approachable/Personable/Team Player;
  • Preferred: AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate;
  • Preferred: Experience with languages: Python, JavaScript, Node.js, shell scripting, HTML, CSS, Micro-services, RESTful web services;

Salary and Benefits

Autodesk offers a competitive compensation package, including base salary, discretionary annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock or long-term incentive cash grants, and a comprehensive benefits package. Estimated annual salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000, depending on experience and geographic location.
