At Nielsen, we believe in empowering our team members to drive innovation and growth. As a Senior/Lead DevOps Engineer, you will play a critical role in shaping our technical infrastructure and processes.

About the Role

  • You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable cloud architectures, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • As a technical leader, you will collaborate with developers to improve code quality, security, and efficiency.
  • You will be responsible for identifying bottlenecks and implementing process improvements to enhance the overall developer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Tech Leads and developers to assess existing problems and develop process improvement solutions.
  • Proactively detect upcoming bottlenecks and production issues, and consult teams on improved technical solutions.
  • Participate in planning delivery time, code quality, and process efficiency improvement projects.
  • Execute on plan by building coding standardizations and automating processes for the organization.
  • Perform daily tasks such as environmental health checks, disk space monitoring, and environmental status reports.
  • Maintain and grow knowledge of platform configuration management and troubleshooting.
  • Actively participate in deploying application artifacts to appropriate target environments using supported technologies and infrastructure.
  • Survey developers and technical members of the organization to understand their main pain points in the coding and development process.
  • Collaborate with the rest of the DevOps team to deliver consistent and holistic solutions to the organization.

Key Skills

  • 6+ years of experience as a DevOps or SRE Engineer on a cross-functional agile team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or Engineering.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Excellent coding and scripting skills (Bash, Python) and experience with implementing high-scale cloud architectures using modern, cloud-based container platforms (PaaS/SaaS).
  • Working knowledge of deployment automation solutions (Terraform, Helm, etc.).
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure) and cluster management tools like Kubernetes, Docker, configuration management, and monitoring.
  • Experience with continuous integration and related tools such as Jenkins, Hudson, Maven, Ant, Git, Sonar, etc.
  • Experienced with building, debugging, operating systems, databases, and infrastructure at scale.
