Big Data Specialist

About the Role:

The role of Big Data Specialist involves designing, building and maintaining efficient data pipelines. This includes moving large amounts of data from various sources into data stores/warehouses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Designing, building, and maintaining ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) or ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) data pipelines to move data into data stores/warehouses.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define data requirements, models and metrics.
  • Managing and optimizing data storage solutions such as Postgres, BigQuery, Redshift or cost-effective alternatives.
  • Ensuring data quality, validation and governance across all pipelines.
  • Implementing automation, monitoring and alerting for data workflows.
  • Supporting business intelligence, dashboards and analytics use cases.
  • Working on API integrations and structured/unstructured data ingestion.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience in data engineering/backend development.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python (or equivalent programming language).
  • Hands-on experience with ETL frameworks (Airbyte, Airflow, dbt, Luigi, or similar).
  • Good understanding of data warehousing concepts, schema design and optimization.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) or open-source alternatives.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and deliver in a lean setup.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and passion for building scalable systems.
