Lead Data Engineer Testing Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Data Engineer Testing Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for leading comprehensive testing strategy and execution for complex data engineering pipelines and product delivery initiatives.

You will drive quality assurance across integrated systems, data workflows, and customer-facing applications while coordinating cross-functional testing efforts. Your expertise in designing and implementing end-to-end testing frameworks, ensuring test coverage across ETL / ELT, data transformation, lineage, and consumption layers, will be crucial in ensuring the highest level of data integrity.

Your experience in data engineering testing, including creating comprehensive test suites for data ingestion, transformation, and output validation, designing data quality checks, schema validation, and performance testing for large-scale datasets, will be essential in this role.

As a technical leader, you will mentor junior QA engineers and promote testing best practices, evaluate and implement new testing tools and technologies, and design scalable testing infrastructure and CI/CD integration.

We require an individual with 10+ years in software testing, 3+ years in leadership roles, 8+ years of experience testing data engineering systems, ETL pipelines, or analytics platforms, and a proven track record with complex, multi-system integration testing.

Additional requirements include strong SQL experience with major databases, experience with cloud platforms and their data services, knowledge of data pipeline tools, proficiency in scripting languages for test automation, API testing tools and methodologies, CI/CD/CT tools and practices, and strong project management and organizational skills.

  • Experience with data warehousing, data architecture, reporting, and analytics applications
  • Knowledge of cloud-based data services and data pipeline tools
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Java, bash) for test automation
  • API testing tools and methodologies
  • CI/CD/CT tools and practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

The ideal candidate will have experience working in agile/scrum environments, managing multiple priorities and competing deadlines, and collaborating with data engineers, software developers, product managers, and DevOps teams.
