Job Title: Senior Electrical Design Engineer


 

  • Design and implement low voltage electrical systems, including reticulation and distribution systems.
  • Operate industry standard software to produce designs for low voltage systems, including selection of cable types and protective devices.
  • Design general lighting systems and emergency lighting systems.
  • Have a good working knowledge of different lighting types and sources.
  • Operate lighting design software to design general and emergency lighting systems.
  • Design cable management systems, including trunking, tray, and conduits.
  • Prepare CMS sizing calculations and present results.
  • Present designs onto schematic and 2D layout drawings.
  • Use Bentley Microstation and AECOsim to model in 3D MEP services.
  • Understand BIM and work within a Common Data Environment.
  • Supervise and verify the work performed by designers/modellers.
  • Interpret client specification requirements.
  • Operate Microsoft Office package, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Guide Assistant Engineers/Engineers in day-to-day work.

Required Skills and Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Qualifications meeting the requirements for Chartership with a UK Engineering Institution.
  • Qualifications in BS standards.
  • Experience in CMS Design, Load calculations, Cable sizing, transformer sizing, LV Design, Single Line drawings, etc.
  • Multi-disciplinary design coordination.
  • Extensive experience of working within a rail station environment.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of LUL, GRIP, and RIBA processes.
  • Competent in CAD drawing production using an industry standard CAD system.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
