Business Intelligence Engineer Job Description

This role involves designing and implementing data flows to support business decisions. It requires a strong understanding of data governance, metadata, and user management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create input datasets from various sources such as MongoDB, flat files, AWS S3, Athena, and Redshift connector.
  • Design and develop dataflows using Magic ETL (different types of tiles like SQL, Add Formula, Rank & Window, Pivot etc.), SQL Transformation, and Blend.
  • Implement Personalized Data Permission (Row Level Security) based on user requirements.
  • Manage data quality, metadata, and user access control.
  • Develop views datasets by joining and unionizing data.
  • Work on sandbox environments (Dev, QA, and Prod instances).
  • Migrate and promote content.
  • Optimize and tune performance.
  • Write complex SQL queries.
  • Develop applications, dashboards, and apply filters and formatting.
  • Create visualizations using different charts/tables like bar, pie, line, gauge, table, pivot etc.
  • Apply drill-up/down/thru functionality on cards.
  • Develop calculated fields (Beast Mode) like WTD, MTD, QTD, and YTD, and format them with color rules.
  • Develop variables and control filters.
  • Handle key performance indicators effectively.
  • Possess experience in handling cloud-based platforms, preferably AWS Cloud (DMS, S3, Glue, Athena, and Redshift), or similar.

Duration: 5+ years of experience. Relevant skills include data modeling, data warehousing, and data visualization.
