Search Consultant

A search consultant is responsible for all aspects of search execution, including managing end-to-end delivery of retained search assignments.

This will involve leading research mapping, candidate engagement, and client relationship management. The role requires working on mandates from multiple industries/sectors or functions, geographic regions, and in conjunction with other associates in joint assignments.

The consultant will also be expected to proactively assist consultants with marketing, pitches, presentations, and candidate closure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research: Work proactively with consultants to prepare client presentations. Anticipate client requirements and provide relevant information.
  • Formulate a research strategy to meet client requirements, including specifying target companies and target universe.
  • Map the 'universe' of a given assignment or product area for marketing.
  • Take ownership of the research report, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Help carry out due diligence on candidates short-listed for the search.
  • Promote and represent the company as a provider of executive search.
  • Network extensively via the telephone with candidates and sources.
  • Knowledge Management: Attend client pitches and contribute when necessary. Write detailed proposal documents and job specifications.
  • Write-up client-facing profiles following interviews.
  • Develop a group of reliable sources.
  • Be proactive about suggesting good speculative candidate ideas.
  • Data Management: Ensure that all information gathered is entered on the database, correctly skill-coded, and contact logs reflect conversations and meetings.
  • Maintain data efficiently and accessibly.
  • Execution: Interview candidates in a consistent and professional manner. Attend candidate meetings with consultants and write up notes.
  • Manage the candidate interview process by arranging meetings and gathering feedback.
  • Stay in continuous contact with shortlisted candidates.
  • Candidate & Client Interaction:
    • Attend candidate interviews with consultants and take detailed notes.
    • Conduct solo candidate meetings with junior or middle-ranking executives.
    • Interview junior candidates against set competencies.
    • Demonstrate knowledge of product areas and communicate professionally.
    • Client:
      • Attend client pitches and contribute when necessary.
      • Create a positive impression with clients.
      • Assist consultants in delivering Research Presentations to clients.
    • Business Development:
      • Attend client pitches and support consultants.
      • Stay alert to potential business development opportunities.
      • Seek out obvious gaps in mappings and alert consultants.

  • At least 5+ years of relevant experience.
