Project Manager - Data Protection Specialist

Seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a key compliance initiative focused on data protection and privacy in the financial services sector.

The successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of our compliance program, ensuring alignment with Bermuda's equivalent data protection regulations modeled closely on the EU's GDPR framework.

This is a remote work opportunity with flexible shift timings. A PMP certification or equivalent is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data protection framework across all business units.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of current policies, systems, and processes to identify gaps against regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Risk, IT Security, Compliance, and Business Units to define and implement controls for data collection, storage, access, and sharing.
  • Establish governance structures, reporting mechanisms, and escalation paths to ensure compliance tracking and accountability.
  • Manage vendor relationships and third-party assessments related to data processing and privacy.
  • Design and facilitate training programs for staff on data protection principles and responsibilities.
  • Prepare project plans, status reports, risk registers, and ensure timely delivery within scope.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience managing regulatory-driven projects, preferably in finance.
  • In-depth understanding of data privacy regulations (PIPA, GDPR).
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to translate legal requirements into actionable business processes.
