Job Overview

This is a leadership position in a project environment. The role entails coordinating the delivery of projects and overseeing the work of a team to ensure successful completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop feasibility studies to meet project requirements, collaborate with colleagues to create design specifications, and review progress with senior engineers.
  • Work with the project team to assemble project plans, agree on scope and deadlines, and monitor progress ensuring timely delivery.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to clearly define project objectives, identify technical requirements, and carry out detailed design.
  • Review and monitor production of calculations, QA, and technical reviews, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure information for project costing preparation is completed accurately and on time, providing regular updates on design progress to the project team.
  • Provide documentation to assist in tender preparation, ensuring accurate and timely submission of information.
  • Coordinate project contracts documents, reviewing input from team members and dealing with day-to-day queries.
  • Report any variances between constructed works and design intent to the project team and stakeholders.
  • Manage project commissions using applicable tools and lead the design process, encouraging effective solutions within agreed timelines.
  • Adhere to document control processes, ensuring drawings, specifications, reports, and correspondence are issued and filed appropriately.
  • Coach junior staff in relevant processes and implement delivery and quality measurement processes.
  • Promote technical excellence and undertake technical reviews, contributing to concept design.
  • Provide feedback on protocols and processes, aiming for continuous improvement.
  • Develop positive professional relationships, communicating openly about project progress and participating in team meetings.
  • Identify and address potential risk issues, referring them to relevant authorities and managing delegated tasks to ensure deadlines are met.

Requirements
  • Proven experience in building structures, preferably in a similar role or demonstrating a good track record.
  • Excellent presentation skills required.
  • Familiarity with technical structural software essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Fluency in English with an excellent understanding of technical terminology necessary.

Preferred Skills
  • Strong management, communication, and technical skills.

Qualifications
  • A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, ideally with British Chartered Engineer status or equivalent.
