Senior Product Design Visionary

As a Senior Director of Product Design, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of our organization by leading the design team and driving the holistic design vision for our products.

This role requires a proven leader with exceptional design skills, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of user-centered design principles. You will be responsible for defining and driving the design strategy, ensuring a consistent, high-quality user experience across internal and external applications.

The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio demonstrating their ability to lead a team of designers who design and ship AI-powered products or features. They will also have expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, with a track record of using data to inform design decisions.

In addition to technical skills, this role requires excellent relationship management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a technical environment with cross-functional teams. The successful candidate will also have excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex design concepts and strategies to a variety of audiences.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design Strategy: Define and drive the holistic design vision for our products, ensuring a consistent, high-quality user experience across internal and external applications.
• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of product designers, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Customer-Facing Influence: Engage in early client and presales discussions to shape design strategy, translating needs into actionable insights.
• Design Ops: Establish and streamline design operations to improve to support scale, consistency, collaboration, efficiency, and quality across teams.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional leaders in product management, engineering, and data science to align on product strategy, goals, and roadmaps.
• User Advocacy: Advocate for the user through research, testing, and feedback, ensuring design decisions are informed by a deep understanding of user needs and behaviors.
• Design Systems: Maintain and establish a centralized design system with standards, patterns, and best practices for designing with AI.
• Evangelism: Present design strategies and concepts to senior leadership and stakeholders, articulating the rationale behind design decisions.

Requirements:

• 12+ years of experience in product design within a technology or product-centric company.
• Proven experience leading a team of designers who design and ship AI-powered products or features.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional design skills, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of user-centered design principles.
• Expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, with a track record of using data to inform design decisions.
• Excellent relationship management skills working in a technical environment with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex design concepts and strategies to a variety of audiences.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Preferred Skills:

• Previous experience working on AI-powered products and/or curiosity about the rapidly evolving landscape and its impact on design and user experience.
