As a Unified Communications Expert, you will be responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive UC solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • UC Architecture & Design: In-depth understanding of Unified Communications products such as CUCM, CUC, IM & Presence, and Expressways is required. You should have deep knowledge of designing and troubleshooting clusters, inter-cluster trunks, and high availability configurations.
  • PSTN Trunking & Interoperability: Experience in designing and troubleshooting SIP trunks, PRIs with carriers, including codec negotiation, SIP headers, PRIs, and call routing logic is essential.
  • CUBE & Voice Gateway Configurations: Advanced IOS gateway setup (MGCP, H.323, SIP), dial peers, DSP resources, and survivability strategies are crucial to this role.
  • Analog Devices: Understanding of Analog Devices such as Analog Gateways, Analog Phones, Fax Devices, DTMF & Dial-tone behavior, FXS/FXO Ports is vital.
  • Call Flow Engineering: End-to-end call flow design across multiple platforms (CUCM, Unity, UCCX/UCCE, Expressway) is a key aspect of this position.
  • Virtualization & Cloud Migration: Deploying IPT solutions on UCS platforms or migrating to cloud-based collaboration (Webex Calling, Cisco HCS) is also an important responsibility.
Strategic & Operational Skills

As a UC Engineer, you will need to possess the following skills:

  • Capacity Planning & Scalability: Forecasting growth, designing scalable dial plans, and managing bandwidth across WAN links is crucial.
  • Disaster Recovery & Redundancy: Architecting failover strategies, backup systems, and DR testing protocols is also essential.
  • Integration Expertise: Connecting IPT with third-party systems (CRM, ERP, SIP endpoints, SBCs) is a key skill.
  • Change Control & Governance: Leading change advisory boards, documenting impact assessments, and enforcing configuration standards is vital.
