Job Title: Sheet Metal Fabrication Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Fabrication Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in sheet metal design and fabrication, with proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks (3D modeling) software.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for sheet metal components and assemblies, as well as developing fabrication drawings, bill of materials, and technical documentation for production.

This role requires close collaboration with the production team to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective. Additionally, the candidate will assist in the development of new products and customization of existing designs based on client requirements.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing detailed 2D drawings in AutoCAD and 3D models in SolidWorks for sheet metal components and assemblies;
  • Developing fabrication drawings, bill of materials (BOM), and technical documentation for production;
  • Working closely with the production team to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective;
  • Assisting in the development of new products and customization of existing designs based on client requirements;
  • Performing sheet metal development including flat patterns, bending allowances, tolerances, and welding considerations;
  • E nsuring all drawings and designs adhere to quality standards, safety norms, and international specifications;
  • Coordinating with cross-functional teams (production, purchase, service) for design feasibility and project execution;
  • Supporting design modifications, revisions, and documentation control;
  • Conducting basic design validations through prototyping, fitment trials, and feedback from the shop floor;
  • Maintaining proper documentation of design files, revisions, and records for future reference.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • A strong technical knowledge of sheet metal design and fabrication processes (laser cutting, punching, bending, welding, finishing);
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) and SolidWorks (3D modeling, assemblies, rendering);
  • Ability to prepare development drawings, exploded views, and assembly drawings;
  • Understanding of tolerances, GD&T, welding symbols, and material specifications (SS 304/316 etc.);
  • Good visualization and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and technical documentation;
  • Team player with effective communication skills.
