Data Centre Operations Engineer: Elevating Cloud Infrastructure Excellence

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Centre Operations Engineer to join our team at myGwork, an inclusive employer and member of the LGBTQ+ business community. This role is with Amazon, a leading cloud computing provider.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our data centres, which are the backbone of our rapidly growing AWS business and customers 24/7. As a Data Centre Operations Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining the physical infrastructure of our data centres, ensuring operational performance standards in safety, security, availability, productivity, capacity, efficiency, and cost.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, managing communication and relationships.
- Meet daily hours of operations, on-call requirements, and respond during rotations.
- Manage planned and unplanned site works for critical infrastructure, considering risks and mitigation strategies.
- Oversee contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors, ensuring compliance with established practices, procedures, and local legislation.
- Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analysis, and prepare reports on facility infrastructure operations and maintenance.
- Generate change management requests and incident management tickets for DCEO activities.
- Collaborate with IT, Networking, Logistics, Safety, Security, and other business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, sustainability, and efficiency.
A Day in the Life
You will troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA). Perform rack installs, rack decommissioning, and facility MEP management. Provide operational readings and key performance indicators to ensure uptime is maintained. Oversee maintenance and operations on all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data centre.

Requirements
- 4+ years of relevant work experience in maintaining a DC or Critical space facility.
- Familiarity with service management systems, problem, and change.
- Ability to participate in a 24 x 7 rotating shift roster.
