Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of our data platform. This is a pivotal role that requires strong expertise in building scalable data pipelines, implementing enterprise-grade data governance, security, and AI-powered engineering automation.

The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of cloud-native data engineering, primarily on Microsoft Azure, and familiarity with AWS and GCP. They should be proficient in SQL, PySpark, Python, and data orchestration tools.

This position involves:

  • Designing and implementing scalable, robust, and secure data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Gen2, Event Hub, and Azure Functions.
  • Developing and maintaining ETL/ELT processes for structured and unstructured data, including Change Data Capture (CDC), streaming pipelines, and batch ingestion.
  • Working with AWS Glue, S3, Redshift, or GCP BigQuery, Dataflow as needed.
  • Optimizing performance and cost across data workloads and cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain data quality frameworks, observability tools, and monitoring dashboards.
  2. Establish data rules, validations, anomaly detection, and reconciliation.
  3. Implement data lineage and metadata tracking using Azure Purview.
  4. Drive adoption of data cataloguing, profiling, and classification tools.
  5. Collaborate with data stewards and compliance teams to ensure governance alignment.
  6. Implement role-based access control (RBAC), data masking, encryption, and tokenization.

Requirements:

  1. 4+ years in data engineering with at least 2+ years on Azure cloud platform.
  2. Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Gen2, Databricks, Synapse, Purview.
  3. Proficiency in SQL, PySpark, Python, and data orchestration tools.
  4. Strong understanding of data architecture patterns – Lakehouse, medallion, delta architecture.
  5. Familiarity with Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or AWS Glue.
  6. Experience with data versioning and GitOps for data.
  7. Working knowledge of data observability, lineage, cataloguing, data quality.
  8. Exposure to privacy-enhancing techniques, access control, security auditing.
  9. Exposure to machine learning use cases in data engineering pipelines, data quality, anomaly detection, and schema change detection.
  10. Exposure to GenAI or agentic AI to automate data cataloguing and metadata enrichment etc.
  11. BE/BTech/MCA with 4 to 8 years' experience in Data Engineering.
