Job Overview

As a Senior Bookkeeper, you'll be responsible for reviewing financial statements, supporting clients with accounting-related advisory services, and performing various bookkeeping tasks. You'll also be involved in excise registration and returns, as well as bank and credit card reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up bank accounts, online access, and chart of accounts efficiently.
  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts with precision and accuracy.
  • Handle transactions such as checks and deposits with attention to detail.
  • Correct errors in profit and loss statements to ensure financial integrity.
  • Generate and upload basic financial statements, providing stakeholders with critical insights.
  • Manage bills, invoices, payments, and sales receipts accurately to prevent delays or discrepancies.
  • Organize the chart of accounts neatly, facilitating easy navigation and decision-making.
  • Post journal entries for interest and depreciation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Categorize expenses correctly for tax purposes, minimizing potential liabilities.
  • Process transactions involving sales tax and pay taxes promptly to avoid penalties.
  • Manage 1099 processing for vendors, adhering to industry standards.
  • Address complex payroll issues, providing timely solutions to employees and stakeholders.
  • Reconcile gross payroll and taxes, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  • Adjust balance sheets to match tax returns, maintaining financial transparency.
  • Process property tax returns accurately, avoiding costly mistakes.
  • Maintain job costing for project analysis, enabling data-driven decision-making.

Skills required:

  • 4+ years of US Public Practice experience in a US Bookkeeping firm.
  • Chartered accountant or Certified public accountant certification.
  • Proficiency with software such as QBO, Microsoft, and Xero.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with peers and clients.
  • Experience managing other Bookkeepers.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Highly dependable and trustworthy, with exceptional organizational and accountability skills.
