Job Description

The role of an Accessibility Specialist encompasses the end-to-end ownership of accessibility delivery for various clients, including government and enterprise organizations. This involves auditing, testing, remediation, document/PDF accessibility, and compliance reporting.

This specialist will work across design, development, and QA teams to ensure websites, mobile apps, and digital documents meet ADA, WCAG, and Section 508 compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess: Conduct automated & manual audits for websites, portals, LMS, documents (Word, PowerPoint, PDFs), and multimedia content.
  • Test: Perform real-user accessibility testing with screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack), keyboard-only navigation, and mobile responsiveness.
  • Remediate: Provide clear, prioritized fixes and hands-on remediation support for PDFs & Office documents (tagging, structure, alt text, headings, forms, reading order), Videos & multimedia (captioning, transcripts, audio descriptions), Third-party platforms & LMS content.
  • Guide developers on accessible coding practices (ARIA, semantic HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Prepare VPATs/ACRs and client-facing accessibility conformance documentation.
  • Advise clients on ADA, Section 508, WCAG 2.1/2.2, and emerging US/state accessibility laws.
  • Support quarterly monitoring & ongoing compliance programs.
Required Skills & Qualifications

Strong knowledge of: WCAG 2.1/2.2, ADA Title II/III, Section 504/508.

Hands-on experience with: JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack, Axe, WAVE, SiteImprove, Adobe Acrobat Pro.

Proficiency in: HTML5, ARIA, CSS3, JavaScript (React/Angular a plus).

Strong documentation/reporting skills: audit findings, VPAT/ACR.

Experience supporting federal, state, or higher education contracts preferred.
