Functional Analyst Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Functional Analyst to support business growth through effective requirement gathering, solution scoping, and proposal writing.

This role involves interacting with potential clients to understand their software needs and challenges, gathering and documenting functional and basic technical requirements, collaborating with sales, delivery, and technical teams to shape solution approaches, and drafting clear and compelling business proposals, presentations, and technical write-ups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interact with potential clients to understand their software needs and challenges.
  • Gather and document functional and basic technical requirements through calls, meetings, and RFPs/RFIs.
  • Collaborate with sales, delivery, and technical teams to shape solution approaches.
  • Draft clear and compelling business proposals, presentations, and technical write-ups.
  • Assist in defining scope, timelines, and preliminary project plans for proposals.
  • Maintain a repository of reusable proposal content and case studies.
  • Support the sales team with functional insights during client discussions and demos.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 3+ years in a business analyst, functional consultant, or pre-sales role in a tech or software services environment.
  • Strong understanding of business processes and ability to translate them into solution requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience in proposal writing is a must.
  • Ability to understand technical concepts and communicate them in simple business terms.
  • Hands-on experience (intermediate level) with tools like MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
