Hardware Design Engineer Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Hardware Design Engineer to join our team. As a Hardware Design Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring safety management throughout the safety development lifecycle.

  • You will lead issue, change, and configuration management based on ISO 26262 standards.
  • Support system and hardware project managers in planning and monitoring safety-related activities.
  • Evaluate compliance with functional safety standards.
  • Develop and maintain safety-related work products from requirements to hardware design and testing.
  • Derive functional and technical safety requirements/concepts at system and subsystem levels.
  • Extract hardware safety requirements and implement safety measures.
  • Support Hazard and Safety Analysis (HSA) development and ensure safety plan activities meet program timelines.
  • Align safety topics with suppliers and customers.
  • Drive safety analysis using Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Fault Mode Effect and Diagnostic Analysis (FMEDA).
  • Document test procedures and hardware safety requirements.
  • Mentor and coach teams on functional safety in Volvo projects.
  • Incorporate ISO 26262 standards into corporate processes.

You will also guarantee proper documentation and revision management of technical specifications.

 Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • 4-12 years of experience as a Hardware Design Engineer.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 26262 standards and their application.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex safety issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Experience with safety analysis tools such as FTA, FMEA, and FMEDA.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant software tools.
