Job Description

As a Strategic Procurement Specialist, you will play a key role in overseeing the implementation of subcategory strategies in line with organizational objectives. You will encourage continual development by sharing inputs on scope with category heads and leads to optimize specifications within the subcategory.

Execute and implement strategic procurement and contract management guidelines, policies, and procedures. Support the creation of sub-category strategy for short-term and long-term goals, along with the Sourcing Lead and Category Head.

Work with planning and supply chain teams to efficiently plan and forecast future demand for materials. Prepare strategy documents as per category requirements, track input material indices, and manage prices.

Handle primary packaging material like cartridges, vials, ampoules, devices, infusion pumps, patches, etc., independently. Make budget forecasts for PM categories and identify savings opportunities. Actively participate in Operational Excellence meetings and presentations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all suppliers for the corresponding subcategory, excluding strategic suppliers.
  • Conduct vendor inspections, reviews, quality assessments, and maintain up-to-date vendor masters.
  • Keep vendors informed about approved supplier lists and GQM vendor lead-time management.
  • Identify market gaps in supply and demand, conduct market research, and gather intelligence.
  • Support the development of should-cost estimates and make use of acquired market information for well-informed category decision-making.
  • Constantly track and maintain changes in material prices, supplier pricing movements, and price benchmarking in accordance with established standards.
  • Obtain bid offers approval from the Category Lead or Category Head before placing orders or signing contracts.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries, submit bids on schedule, create negotiation strategy sheets, and analyze vendor bid rates.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Pharma Science Graduate with PG Diploma from Indian Institute of Packaging MBA Material Management with 10 years of experience in a pharma industry handling Strategic Procurement. Solid comprehension of procurement strategies, methods, and procedures. Supply chain operations and thorough understanding of regulated markets and vendor bases are essential.
