Job Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced AS/400 Support Specialist to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IBM AS/400 (COBOL, RPG III, RPGILE, SQLILE, CLLE) and experience with:

  • Application: Understanding of the business purpose of the AS400 application and the overall processes/functions it supports.
  • Technical Architecture: Familiarization with the system architecture diagram of the AS400 application, including its interface mechanisms with upstream and downstream systems.
  • Environment Details: Documentation of various AS400 environments (e.g., Production, Pre-prod, Test, Dev), OS levels, and database versions.
  • Technologies Used: COBOL, RPG programming, DB2 databases, CL commands, and communication protocols specific to AS400.
  • Code Walkthrough: Performing walkthroughs of complex, critical, or error-prone COBOL, RPG code modules, including any customized routines.
  • Integration: Understanding how the AS400 application integrates with other systems.
  • Monitoring Setup: Knowledge of current monitoring mechanisms, log directories, and housekeeping processes on AS400 servers.
  • Compliance Requirements: Identification of applicable compliance and regulatory requirements for the AS400 system and adherence.
  • Support Scope: Documentation of dependencies with L2/L3 support teams and interactions with infrastructure teams for AS400.

The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the AS400 system, resolving technical issues, and providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to the AS400 system.
  2. Provide timely and effective support to customers and internal stakeholders.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with other systems.
  4. Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in the field.
  5. Document and maintain accurate records of system configurations, changes, and troubleshooting steps.

Requirements

  • 6-10 years of experience in AS/400 administration and support.
  • Strong knowledge of IBM AS/400 (COBOL, RPG III, RPGILE, SQLILE, CLLE).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
