Job Title: Dam Safety Specialist

Our organization is seeking an experienced professional to fill the role of Dam Safety Specialist. The ideal candidate will have expertise in hydrological and hydraulic modelling using advanced tools like MIKE, HEC_HMS, or others.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring dam safety and emergency preparedness. The successful candidate will lead the preparation and finalization of Tier-I documents following international best practices.

The key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Acting as the subject matter expert for all tasks related to dam break analysis and inundation mapping.
  • Leading the preparation and finalization of Tier-I documents following international best practices.
  • Providing technical support for the development and finalization of Emergency Action Plans (EAPs).
  • Facilitating and supporting stakeholder consultation meetings.
  • Reviewing and finalizing plans presented in Project Support Teams (PSTs).
  • Designing and delivering customized training courses on dam break analysis, inundation mapping, EAP preparation, and implementation.
  • Conducting capacity building programs for DRIP Implementing Agencies (IAs).
  • Performing integrated flood routing studies for cascades of reservoirs.
  • Assisting in the finalization of integrated operations of important or cascade reservoirs.
  • Undertaking need-based flood routing studies to determine routed floods for specific reservoirs.
  • Conducting dam safety inspections and managing related documentation and communication.
  • Developing and implementing training calendars and schedules aligned with the annual DRIP Calendar.
  • Providing inputs for revision and formulation of guidelines related to dam safety and EAPs.
  • Contributing data and insights to the National Dam Safety Information System and Management Information System (MIS).
  • Supporting the development of in-house expertise at select academic institutions.
  • Participating in national and international conferences via technical paper submissions and presentations.
  • Supporting preparation of Project Rehabilitation Reports (PRRs).
  • Assisting in the finalization and training of the Construction Supervision & Quality Assurance (CS&QA) Manual and Plan.
  • Delivering Training of Trainers (ToT) for DRIP IAs to enhance their CS&QA capabilities.
  • Undertaking need-based inspections of DRIP dams.
  • Accompanying Central Dam Safety Review Panel (DSRP) teams for special safety issues.
