Senior Data Engineer - SQL

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Data Engineer with expertise in SQL development and data remediation to join our fast-paced, data-driven environment. This is a remote opportunity ideal for professionals who thrive on solving complex data problems.

The role involves identifying, troubleshooting, and fixing critical data issues across large, complex databases in a production setting. You will collaborate with product and QA teams to validate fixes, create data validation test cases, and ensure reproducibility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze, debug, and resolve data quality issues across multiple related tables using advanced SQL techniques.
  • Write complex SQL queries using joins, CTEs, window functions, temp tables, and nested queries to optimize performance.
  • Perform schema-level fixes and implement rollback logic using tools like Phinx, Flyway, or Liquibase.
  • Document root cause analysis (RCA) clearly and communicate solutions with stakeholders.
Must-Have Skills:
  • Advanced SQL Development – strong hands-on experience with complex joins, aggregations, and performance optimization.
  • Data Remediation Expertise – proven ability to debug and fix production data issues.
  • Database Migration & Rollback Experience – familiarity with schema migrations and rollback tools.
  • Data Validation & QA – ability to design and execute validation steps to ensure accuracy.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
  • Experience in ETL processes, data pipelines, or big data technologies.
  • Knowledge of cloud databases.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
