Product Merchandising Professional

Role Overview

The Product Merchandising Professional plays a vital role in the smooth coordination of garment production, quality control, and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Source and select appropriate fabrics, trims, and accessories to meet design specifications.
  • Coordinate with Production Manager to develop samples, including fabric selection, construction, fit, and quality.
  • Review and approve samples, ensuring they meet quality standards.
Planning and Scheduling
  • Develop yearly and monthly production plans, considering order requirements, capacity, and lead times.
  • Plan and allocate resources, including materials and labor.
  • Ensure timely delivery of products by monitoring production progress and addressing any issues or delays.
Vendor Management
  • Identify and select reliable suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing terms with vendors.
  • Ensure consistent quality and timely delivery of raw materials.
Costing and Budgeting
  • Prepare cost estimates for products, including materials, labor, and overhead.
  • Manage budgets and track expenses to ensure production costs are within limits.
  • Collaborate with the finance department to negotiate pricing and discounts.
Quality Control
  • Establish quality standards and guidelines for production.
  • Conduct inspections and quality checks at various stages of production.
  • Implement corrective actions to ensure high-quality products.
Inventory Management
  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Ensure timely replenishment of materials to avoid production delays.
  • Optimize stock levels to minimize excess inventory and reduce costs.
Production Coordination
  • Coordinate with various production departments, including production, logistics, and quality control.
  • Ensure smooth communication and workflow between teams.
Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain detailed records of production activities, including orders, deliveries, and inspections.
  • Prepare regular reports on production status, costs, and quality.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

A degree in textile engineering, fashion merchandising, or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

More than 5 years of experience in a similar role.

Technical Skills:

Familiarity with textile and garment manufacturing processes.

Knowledge in using production management software and tools.

Pricing and profitability analysis skills.

Soft Skills:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.

Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
