IT Infrastructure Engineer

The IT Infrastructure Engineer - SAP HANA Implementation is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and optimizing the IT infrastructure required for SAP HANA systems. This role focuses on deploying and supporting SAP HANA environments while ensuring the underlying IT infrastructure—servers, storage, networks, and virtualization platforms—are robust, secure, and scalable.

• SAP HANA Infrastructure Deployment & Management
• Design, deploy, and manage SAP HANA infrastructure solutions, including servers, storage, and networking components tailored for SAP HANA requirements.
• Install, configure, and optimize SAP HANA databases, ensuring high availability, scalability, and disaster recovery solutions are in place.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation related to SAP HANA architecture, configuration, and operational processes.
• Server & Storage Management
• Manage and maintain physical and virtual servers (Windows/Linux) to support SAP HANA environments.
• Oversee storage solutions (SAN, NAS) optimized for SAP HANA workloads, ensuring low latency and high performance.
• Implement backup, recovery, and business continuity plans for SAP HANA databases to guarantee data integrity and minimal downtime.
• Network & Security Administration
• Configure and manage network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, VPNs, and firewalls, to ensure secure and efficient communication between SAP HANA systems and users.
• Implement and enforce security controls, including access controls, data encryption, and firewall rules specific to SAP HANA environments.
• Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments for SAP HANA infrastructure to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
• Performance Monitoring & Optimization
• Monitor the performance of SAP HANA systems and underlying infrastructure using monitoring tools and platforms (e.g., Nagios, SolarWinds).
• Analyze performance data and implement tuning measures to optimize SAP HANA database performance and overall system efficiency.
• Conduct regular health checks and capacity planning to anticipate growth and ensure the infrastructure can scale with business needs.
• SAP HANA Implementation Projects
• Lead or participate in SAP HANA implementation projects, including planning, architecture design, installation, configuration, and testing.
• Collaborate with SAP consultants, developers, and other IT teams to align infrastructure solutions with business and application requirements.
• Manage third-party vendors and service providers to ensure project timelines, quality standards, and SLAs are met.
• Troubleshooting & Support
• Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for SAP HANA-related infrastructure incidents, ensuring minimal impact on business operations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, network, and system issues affecting SAP HANA environments promptly.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues within SAP HANA landscapes.
• Automation & Continuous Improvement
• Develop scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Python) and use automation tools to streamline routine tasks, such as backups, monitoring, and deployment.
• Identify opportunities for improving infrastructure management and SAP HANA system efficiency through automation and process optimization.
• Stay updated on SAP HANA and infrastructure technology trends and best practices, implementing relevant improvements.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent work experience may be considered.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering, with at least 2 years focused on SAP HANA deployment and management.
• Hands-on experience with SAP HANA architecture, installation, and optimization.
• Strong knowledge of server and storage management, including virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
• Proficiency in network administration, including firewalls, VPNs, and security best practices.
• Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems as well as database administration and optimization.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and SAP HANA deployment in cloud environments.
• Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• SAP certification (e.g., SAP Certified Technology Associate - SAP HANA).
• Experience with SAP Basis administration and SAP Solution Manager.
• Proficiency in monitoring and automation tools relevant to SAP HANA (e.g., SAP HANA Cockpit, Nagios).
• Knowledge of ITIL practices for incident management and change management.
• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell) for automation.
