Solar Power Installation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Solar PV Site Electrical Engineer to oversee and support the installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of solar power systems at project sites.

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned electrical engineer with hands-on experience in solar PV systems and a solid understanding of electrical engineering principles applied to renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and Monitor Solar PV Electrical Works: Supervise and monitor all solar PV electrical works on-site, including installation of panels, inverters, combiner boxes, transformers, and cable routing.
  • Review and Interpret Solar Electrical Drawings: Review and interpret solar electrical drawings, single-line diagrams (SLDs), string configurations, and layout plans.
  • Oversee Installation of LV/MV Systems: Oversee the installation of LV/MV systems, grounding/earthing systems, protection systems, and monitoring equipment.
  • Coordinate with Civil, Mechanical, and Commissioning Teams: Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and commissioning teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Conduct Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning Activities: Conduct pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for solar systems, including insulation resistance tests, continuity checks, and inverter testing.
  • Maintain Quality and Safety Standards: Monitor subcontractor performance to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.
  • Troubleshoot Technical Issues: Troubleshoot technical issues and propose practical on-site solutions to maintain progress and quality.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Master's is a plus.
  • Experience in Solar PV System Installation: 10 years of experience in solar PV system installation and supervision.
  • Knowledge of Solar PV System Components: Strong knowledge of solar PV system components (inverters, modules, combiner boxes, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Electrical Safety Standards: Familiarity with electrical safety standards and testing equipment.
  • Problem-Solving and Communication Skills: Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

This role requires a strong commitment to delivering high-quality work while maintaining a safe working environment. The ideal candidate will be based on-site in Liberia and will have a proven track record of successfully managing electrical installations and ensuring compliance with international standards.

About the Role:

The Solar PV Site Electrical Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the installation, testing, and maintenance of solar power systems at project sites. This includes supervising and monitoring solar PV electrical works, reviewing and interpreting solar electrical drawings, and coordinating with other teams to ensure integrated project delivery.

What You'll Need:

To be successful in this role, you will need a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, 10 years of experience in solar PV system installation and supervision, and strong knowledge of solar PV system components. You will also need familiarity with electrical safety standards and testing equipment, as well as excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
