Job Title: Data Engineering Director

We are seeking a skilled professional to lead our data engineering efforts. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SQL, big data processing, and modern data platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and continuously improve the data practice by driving initiatives and collaborating with stakeholders.
  • Design, build, and optimize data pipelines for large-scale structured and unstructured datasets using modern big data frameworks.
  • Implement ETL/ELT processes using SQL and modern big data frameworks, ensuring data quality, lineage, and compliance.
  • Work with architects and governance leads to enable data integration, transformation, and analytics on modern data platforms.
  • Apply big data processing concepts (e.g., partitioning, distributed compute, streaming/batch data flows) to drive performance tuning, monitoring, and automation of data workflows.
  • Build data modeling processes to ensure data quality and support business decisions.
  • Assess and adopt new vendor/platform solutions (e.g., Azure Fabric) to drive innovation and efficiency.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Ability to lead data engineering projects from inception to delivery, effectively communicating with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Fundamental understanding of data modeling to link data entities and drive data-driven decisions.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL (queries, optimization, stored procedures) and big data processing (distributed computing, Spark, Kafka, Delta Lake concepts).
  • Solid understanding of cloud data ecosystems (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
