Backend Engineering Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to lead our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java/J2EE development, system design, and cloud-native application architecture.

About the Role:

Main Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality backend services, ensuring they meet the required standards for scalability, security, and performance.
• Lead by example, applying object-oriented design principles and design patterns to build reusable, modular, and maintainable codebases.
• Develop and consume RESTful APIs with strong emphasis on performance, security, and scalability, utilizing cloud-native architectures.
• Collaborate closely with QA teams to ensure the highest standards of software quality, identifying test cases and debugging issues efficiently.
• Adept at Test-Driven Development (TDD) or Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) practices, where applicable, to guarantee code reliability and maintainability.
• Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker and container orchestration platforms, optimizing system performance and troubleshooting complex production issues.
• Work extensively with cloud platforms to architect cloud-native solutions leveraging services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, etc., ensuring seamless integration and deployment.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes, streamlining workflows and reducing manual intervention.
• Participate actively in end-to-end application architecture and system design discussions, driving the creation of scalable, resilient, and maintainable systems that meet business needs.
• Integrate observability tools to monitor application health, logs, and performance metrics, enabling data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong professional experience with Java/J2EE and deep understanding of Object-Oriented Design and J2EE design patterns.
• Expertise in building and consuming RESTful APIs, with a focus on cloud-native architectures.
• Hands-on experience with NoSQL databases and message queuing systems like Kafka or MQ, ensuring efficient data processing and communication.
• Experience in automation testing (unit and integration testing), utilizing frameworks to ensure comprehensive coverage and reliability.
• Proven experience running containers (Docker/LXC) in production and using container orchestration tools, guaranteeing efficient deployment and management.
• Working knowledge of AWS Cloud services and infrastructure, including EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, and more.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks, streamlining development and deployment processes.
• Solid understanding of application architecture and system design principles, ensuring scalability, resilience, and maintainability.
• Exposure to Agile development methodologies, with a focus on iterative development, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction.
• Familiarity with observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace, Splunk, or InfluxDB, enabling real-time monitoring and data-driven decision-making.

Bonus Points:

• Additional experience with DevOps practices, including infrastructure as code, continuous integration, and continuous deployment.
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration, including Kubernetes and Docker Swarm.
• Understanding of service mesh and API gateway concepts, ensuring efficient communication and scalability.
