Backup Manager Position

Our organization is seeking an experienced and skilled Middle-Level Manager to oversee the Backup Operations team.

This role involves ensuring data integrity, availability, and recoverability across all systems, particularly in relation to compliance requirements.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in backup technologies, leadership abilities, and a proactive approach to risk mitigation and compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of backup and recovery environments on various platforms.
  • Lead and mentor a team of backup administrators to ensure high system availability and performance.
  • Develop and maintain backup policies, schedules, and procedures aligned with business continuity and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Monitor backup jobs, investigate failures, and resolve issues promptly to minimize risks and data loss.
  • Collaborate with application, database, and infrastructure teams to meet data protection and retention requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of backup configurations, processes, and recovery procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal data retention policies and audit requirements.
  • Evaluate and implement new backup technologies and tools to optimize performance, cost, and reliability.
  • Provide regular reporting on backup status, capacity usage, and improvement opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant degree or professional certification
  • Certification in backup management, ITIL, and relevant technology domains
  • 10-12 years of experience in backup management and leadership roles
  • Strong knowledge of integrated backup solutions, storage management, and project management
  • Pharmaceutical industry compliance knowledge and experience with CSV documents
