Compliance professionals with a passion for data protection are invited to apply for this key role in overseeing the implementation of Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) compliance.

This exciting opportunity involves leading the development and execution of a comprehensive compliance program that aligns with Bermuda's data protection regulations, closely modeled on the European Union's GDPR framework.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving end-to-end planning, delivery, and tracking of the compliance initiative, ensuring seamless integration across all business units.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing a PIPA compliance framework that meets regulatory requirements.
  • Conducting thorough assessments of current data privacy policies, systems, and processes to identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and implement appropriate controls for data collection, storage, access, and sharing.
  • Overseeing the creation of data mapping and inventory to track all personal data processed by the organization.
  • Establishing governance structures, reporting mechanisms, and escalation paths to ensure ongoing compliance tracking and accountability.
  • Managing vendor relationships and third-party assessments related to data processing and privacy.
  • Fostering a culture of data protection awareness through training and education programs for staff.

Required skills and experience include:

  • Proven experience in managing regulatory or compliance-driven projects, preferably in the financial services sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of data privacy regulations (PIPA, GDPR, or similar).
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into actionable business processes.

PMP certification is highly desirable but not mandatory.
