Advanced Math and Science Research Position

We are seeking experienced researchers to contribute to our ongoing project, focusing on fine-tuning and evaluating large language models (LLMs) in the fields of mathematics and science.
The primary objective of this research initiative is to enhance the ability of LLMs to understand and solve complex math problems, including multi-step algebra and logic questions.
Research Objectives:
- Determine the number of symmetric matrices of rank 2 with entries only 0 or 1.
- Calculate the number of subsets of a 10-element set with Hamming weight exactly 3.
- Finding distinct 10-digit numbers where the sum of digits is divisible by 3 and each digit is either 0 or 1.
These tasks aim to identify model weaknesses and improve training and evaluation workflows.
Candidate Profile:
- Academic Background: PhD/Postdoc in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities with clear reasoning.
- Communication Skills: Clarity in explaining complex topics and providing feedback.
- Research Independence: Ability to work independently in a remote environment and participate actively in team discussions.
- Technical Setup: Access to reliable computer and internet for remote assignments.
This position requires at least 4 hours per day and minimum 20 hours per week commitment with overlap in PST time zone. The contract duration is 1 month, with options for different time commitments.
