Job Description:

Swissplast AG is seeking a Senior CAD Designer to join our team. As a leading thermoforming company in Europe, we provide innovative solutions for transportation industries.

Opportunity Summary:

We are looking for a senior-level CAD Designer with extensive SolidWorks expertise to develop thermoformed interior components for the railway industry. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of engineering principles, excellent customer communication skills, and the ability to deliver manufacturable, cost-optimized solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop interior thermoformed panels for trains using SolidWorks.
  • Translate customer rough concepts and specifications into production-ready 3D and 2D designs.
  • Adapt panel designs to changing project requirements while ensuring minimal tool modifications.
  • Engineer the rear side construction of panels, including reinforcements, ventilation solutions, and mounting details.
  • Work in direct exchange with European clients to align technical feasibility, cost efficiency, and manufacturability.
  • Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, safety requirements, and customer specifications.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in CAD design for thermoformed plastic components.
  • SolidWorks expert level surface modeling, assemblies, tool-related adjustments.
  • Strong background in railway, automotive, or transportation interiors.
  • Knowledge of plastics material properties, tooling, and production processes.
  • Ability to translate conceptual sketches into manufacturable designs.
  • Strong communication skills for customer interaction and engineering discussions.
  • Independent, structured, and detail-oriented working style.
  • German language skills are a strong plus.
