As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in developing, maintaining, and enhancing COBOL applications to meet business requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing high-performance COBOL applications for batch and online processing.
  • Writing, testing, and debugging COBOL code to ensure optimal performance.
  • Modifying and updating existing COBOL applications to improve efficiency or add new features.
  • Creating and maintaining JCL scripts to manage batch jobs for data processing.
  • Ensuring JCL is optimized for job scheduling, monitoring, and error handling.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving JCL-related issues that impact batch processing.
  • Designing and developing DB2 queries to interact with databases, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Integrating COBOL programs with DB2 for data retrieval, insertion, and updating.
  • Ensuring database integrity and handling SQL optimization for large-scale transactions.
  • Working with VSAM files to store and retrieve data efficiently.
  • Ensuring COBOL programs interact seamlessly with VSAM files.
  • Performing file management tasks such as creating, deleting, and maintaining VSAM datasets.
  • Developing and maintaining CICS-based applications, ensuring seamless communication between online programs and data resources.
  • Optimizing transaction processing in a CICS environment, focusing on real-time banking applications.
  • Debugging and resolving any issues related to CICS transactions, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Participating in Agile ceremonies, including daily standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver features incrementally and meet sprint goals.
  • Ensuring timely delivery of COBOL-based solutions within Agile sprints.
  • Developing software that aligns with industry standards and regulations.
  • Ensuring data accuracy and consistency in financial transactions, account management, and payment systems.
  • Staying informed about changes in the industry and ensuring the software complies with regulations.

Required skills and qualifications include:

  • 5+ years of experience in Mainframe Cobol development.
  • Experience with JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, IMS, and Agile methodology.
  • Banking domain knowledge and experience with industry regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
