About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to manage and maintain our DMSII databases on Unisys mainframes.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in DMSII database administration, with experience in performing installation, configuration, and administration of DMSII databases. Additionally, they will be able to monitor database performance, space utilization, and availability on Unisys mainframes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing sets, subsets, and indexes to ensure efficient data access.
  • Handling database backups, journals, and roll-forward recovery procedures.
  • Supporting schema changes and performing database reorganizations as required.
  • Assisting in capacity planning and ensuring data integrity across environments.
  • Working closely with application and system teams to troubleshoot performance or access issues.
  • Participating in disaster recovery testing and ensuring compliance with backup policies.
Required Skills

To be successful in this role, the candidate will need to possess the following skills:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration.
  • Knowledge of DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools.
  • Understanding of journaling, quiet point backups, and roll-forward recovery.
  • Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues.
  • Familiarity with COBOL, ALGOL, or other Unisys mainframe application integration.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience as a DMSII DBA or Unisys Mainframe DBA.
