Performance Engineer Role

At Jio, we have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Performance Engineer to join our team based out of Navi Mumbai or Gurgaon location. The successful candidate will play a key role in enabling engineering to scale effectively by making informed trade-offs around cost, latency, and other performance constraints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop tools and apps to profile systems and read the depth of core technology.
  • Conduct deep-dives on product design and architecture, collaborating with various Engineering teams to drive cost optimization initiatives and have a direct impact on product development.
  • Identify and debug bottlenecks to improve end-user experience and evaluate efficient technological changes to reduce resource consumption and request latency.
  • Help determine scaling and utilization parameters for various service tiers, optimizing memory/CPU/system stability characteristics through focused tuning and design applicable performance ratchets.
  • Build observability and nudging to proactively inform people about regression trends in latency, develop performance and capacity-related assessments and experiments for bench-marking.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in building Apps & Tools, Performance Testing, and Engineering strategies, principles, methodologies, and tools (Gatling, JMeter, Tsung).
  • Written high-quality code in a programming language (Java/C++/Python/JavaScript/DotNet/Golang).
  • Strong capabilities on Oracle/MS-SQL/MySQL/Postgres databases, Dev/Design & Tuning/Monitoring (AWR, ASH, ADDM, TkProf).
  • Strong knowledge on tuning and Database Administration over NOSQL - Cassandra, MongoDB, Apache Ignite.
  • Knowledge on Caching solutions/strategies (Redis/Memcache/Infinispan/Hazelcast).
  • *nix OS (Shell programming/scripting, Tuning/Monitoring) using tools like tcp dumps, Wireshark, netstat, vmstat, iostat, top, sar.
  • JVM Tuning, Monitoring, Thread & Heap dump analysis. Proficiency in using tools like JVisualVM, JConsole, JFR, MAT.
  • Performance optimization of application containers like Nginx/Tomcat/Apache HTTP Server/IIS.
  • Experience on Performance Engineering on Cloud environments like Google Cloud (GCP), Azure Cloud.
  • Experience on Performance Engineering over container-based environment like Kubernetes, Apache Mesos.
  • Knowledge on Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet.
  • Experience of running Performance Engineering optimization over DataLake or Data Platforms (Big Data/Hadoop/Hive/Spark).
  • Developed data analysis tools or visualization of real-world application and network performance.
  • Rich experience with scalable distributed systems, systems architecture, Performance analysis, and tuning of web-based applications at scale.
  • Proven past infrastructure tuning experience at any of JVM/Linux/JavaScript compiler levels.
  • Experience debugging complex problems across the whole stack.
