Site Reliability Engineer Role

We are seeking a skilled Site Reliability Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a unique blend of development and operations knowledge, with a passion for improving the organization's reliability.

This role combines technical expertise in cloud operations, software development lifecycle, and Observability tools to drive business results. As a Senior SRE on the SRE Observability team, you will work closely with product development teams, Cloud Infrastructure, and other SRE teams to ensure effective observability and improve the reliability of products, SLDC, and Infrastructure.

You must be able to see the big picture and work collaboratively to solve hard multi-disciplinary problems. Experience in managing AWS services or operational knowledge of managing applications in AWS via automation is highly valued. Fluency in at least one scripting language (Typescript, Javascript, Python, Ruby, Bash) is also required.

The successful candidate will be responsible for enlightening, enabling, and empowering multi-disciplinary teams across multiple applications and locations. You will tackle complex development, automation, and business process problems, championing Cvent standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enlighten, enable, and empower multi-disciplinary teams across multiple applications and locations.
  • Tackle complex development, automation, and business process problems. Champion Cvent standards and best practices.
  • Ensure scalability, performance, and resilience of Cvent products and processes.
  • Work with product development teams, Cloud Automation, and other SRE teams to identify observability gaps and their resolution.
  • Identify recurring problems and anti-patterns in development, operational, and security processes and help respective teams build observability.
  • Develop build, test, and deployment automation targeting multiple on-premises and AWS regions.
  • Contribute to Open-Source projects.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills and track record working in distributed teams.
  • A passion for making things better for peers.
  • Experience managing AWS services or operational knowledge of managing applications in AWS via automation.
  • Fluency in at least one scripting language (Typescript, Javascript, Python, Ruby, Bash).
  • Experience with SDLC methodologies (preferably Agile).
  • Experience with Observability (Logging, Metrics, Tracing) and SLI/SLO.
  • Working with APM, monitoring, and logging tools (Datadog, New Relic, Splunk).
  • Good understanding of containerization concepts (docker, ECS, EKS, Kubernetes).
  • Self-motivation and ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Troubleshooting and responding to incidents, setting a standard for others to prevent issues.
