Job Title: SRE Lead

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Site Reliability Engineering professional to oversee the reliability, scalability, and performance of our critical systems. As a Site Reliability Engineering Lead, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and implementing SRE best practices, leading a team of engineers, and driving automation, monitoring, and incident response strategies.

This position combines software engineering and systems engineering expertise to build and maintain high-performing, reliable systems that meet business requirements.

The successful candidate will have 6+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering or a related field with a strong background in system design, implementation, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reliability & Performance:
    • Lead efforts to maintain high availability and reliability of critical services by defining and monitoring Service Level Indicators (SLIs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
    • Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and system inefficiencies through root cause analysis and data-driven decision making.
  • Incident Management & Response:
    • Establish and improve incident management processes and on-call rotations to ensure timely and effective response to critical incidents.
    • Lead incident response and root cause analysis for high-priority outages to minimize downtime and impact on customers.
    • Drive post-incident reviews and ensure actionable insights are implemented to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
  • Automation & Tooling:
    • Develop and implement automated solutions to reduce manual operational tasks and improve overall efficiency.
    • Enhance system observability through metrics, logging, and distributed tracing tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Elastic APM.
    • Optimize Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for seamless deployments and reduced risk.
  • Collaboration:
    • Partner with software engineering teams to improve the reliability of applications and infrastructure through code reviews, testing, and collaboration.
    • Work closely with product/engineering teams to design scalable and robust systems that meet customer needs.
    • Ensure seamless integration of monitoring and alerting systems across teams to provide real-time visibility into system performance.
  • Leadership & Team Building:
    • Manage, mentor, and grow a team of SREs to develop their skills and advance their careers.
    • Promote SRE best practices and foster a culture of reliability and performance across the organization through training, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
    • Drive performance reviews, skills development, and career progression for team members to ensure they have the skills and resources needed to succeed.
  • Capacity Planning & Cost Optimization:
    • Perform capacity planning and implement autoscaling solutions to handle traffic spikes and ensure efficient use of resources.
    • Optimize infrastructure and cloud costs while maintaining reliability and performance through right-sizing, rightsizing, and cost-saving initiatives.
