UAV Design Engineer Job Summary

The UAV Design Engineer plays a critical role in the development of unmanned aerial vehicles, working closely with cross-functional teams to design and optimize airframes, sub-systems, and propulsion systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop UAV airframes and sub-systems using advanced composite materials and lightweight structures.
  • Perform aerodynamic analysis and optimization of UAV configurations to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Work closely with electronics, propulsion, and software teams to integrate systems and ensure seamless operation.
  • Conduct structural and thermal analysis (FEA, CFD) to validate design performance and ensure airworthiness.
  • Participate in UAV prototyping, assembly, ground testing, and flight trials to validate design concepts and identify areas for improvement.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in UAV or aircraft design, including internships.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, etc.) and experience with composite materials and UAV fabrication techniques.
  • Strong understanding of aerodynamics, flight mechanics, and structural design principles.
  • Experience with FEA/CFD tools (ANSYS, XFOIL, Fluent, etc.) is desirable.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience designing VTOL, hybrid, or long-endurance UAV platforms.
  • Familiarity with autopilot systems (e.g., PX4, ArduPilot) and avionics integration.
  • Exposure to regulatory frameworks (e.g., FAA Part 107).
  • Knowledge of electric propulsion systems and battery technologies.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
