Backend Engineering Manager Role

Overview:

  • Lead and manage a high-performing backend engineering team, ensuring seamless collaboration and accountability.

Responsibilities:

People Leadership:

  • Oversee the growth and development of a talented engineering team, enhancing their skills and expertise.
  • Mentor team members to improve their knowledge and proficiency in backend technologies.
  • Conduct regular performance assessments and provide constructive feedback for personal and professional growth.
  • Encourage an environment that promotes open communication, collaboration, and teamwork.

Technical & Product Delivery:

  • Develop and implement scalable backend systems, aligning with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with product managers to define and deliver B2C product features, driving business impact.
  • Ensure high-quality code standards, robust testing practices, and architectural best practices.
  • Oversight of project delivery end-to-end, focusing on scalability, reliability, and business outcomes.

Operational Excellence:

  • Improve system performance, scalability, and resilience through continuous monitoring and improvement.
  • Streamline engineering processes for speed and quality, enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Develop strategies for ensuring observability and monitoring across backend services, driving data-driven decision making.

Requirements:

  • 9+ years of experience in backend technologies, with a strong focus on software development.
  • 2–3 years as an Engineering Manager, leading teams and driving delivery, with a proven track record of success.
