Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of web engineers, ensuring they have the necessary skills and resources to deliver high-quality software solutions. This includes estimating work, setting goals, and meeting them.

They will also be responsible for designing and implementing well-tested and documented software in Web technologies or Flutter. Debugging and fixing issues encountered by users is also an essential part of this role.

Additionally, the Engineering Manager will participate in our engineering process through code and architectural reviews, collaborate with community and colleagues on technical specifications, and contribute to technical documentation.

  • Sound Engineering Principles: Demonstrate sound engineering principles by directly contributing to your team's goals.
  • Goal Setting and Achievement: Estimate work, set goals, and meet them.
  • Software Design and Implementation: Design and implement well-tested and documented software in Web technologies or Flutter.
  • Issue Resolution: Debug and fix issues encountered by your users.
  • Engineering Process Participation: Participate in our engineering process through code and architectural reviews.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with community and colleagues on technical specifications, and contribute to technical documentation.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have:

Academic Background: An exceptional academic track record from both high school and university, with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or a compelling narrative about your alternative path.

Drive and Motivation: Drive and a track record of going above and beyond expectations.

Organisation and Time Management: Well-organised, self-starting and able to deliver to schedule.

Interpersonal Skills: Professional manner in interacting with colleagues, partners, and community.

Technical Skills: Experience designing and writing high-quality Web technologies, experience with and passion for Typescript, React or Flutter, an eye for accessibility and performance, professional written and spoken English, experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred), and excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
