Job Title: Senior Associate

Role Overview:

The ideal candidate for this position will possess a strong academic background in law and 1-3 years of post-qualification experience in Indirect Tax. Key responsibilities include handling tax matters, preparing submissions, and representing clients before various judicial forums.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Handling Tax Matters: Prepare and submit tax appeals to the Joint Commissioner (Appeals) and the Court (i.e. Tribunal, High Court / Supreme Court)
  • Meetings with Tax Officers: Meet with tax officers for hearings as required
  • Representing Clients: Assist seniors in representation before various judicial forums
  • Research: Conduct comprehensive research on various topics
Client Service Delivery/Execution:
  • Identifying Technical Issues: Proactively identify and discuss technical issues with clients while being mindful of firm risk issues
  • Work Execution: Execute work on a multiple client base, assuming near independent responsibility for smaller clients
  • Rapport Building: Develop rapport with middle layers of client management
Develops Commercial Acumen:
  • Staying Updated: Stay abreast of firm-wide and competitor activities and general business trends
  • Delivering Solutions: Apply knowledge in delivering solutions to clients
Networking & Identification of Opportunities:
  • Identifying New Opportunities: Identify new opportunities for existing clients and communicate with senior
  • Internal Networking: Network internally within the peer group and other levels in the firm
Develops Strong Knowledge Base:
  • Knowledge Management: Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in tax and other laws
  • Contribution: Contribute to the knowledge management activities of the firm

Required Qualifications: Law Graduate from a known Law School with a strong academic track record is required.
