We are seeking a skilled expert in Ship Design and Optimization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in naval architecture and experience with developing digital solutions for the maritime industry.

About the Role

This role requires the ability to collaborate with data scientists to develop innovative solutions for large container ships. Key responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing container ship operations data to inform digital twin development.
  • Conceptualizing and building digital twins of large container vessels.
  • Identifying relevant data needed for digital twin development.
  • Providing domain expertise to guide data scientists in building impactful solutions.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for:

  • Developing and refining digital twin models incorporating fuel performance curves, vessel stability, safety thresholds, and other parameters affecting fuel consumption.
  • Modeling the effects of windage, vessel speed, drift, trim, heel, hull condition, propeller condition, engine condition, waves impact, wind impact, and currents on fuel consumption.
  • Deriving parameters like trim, metacentric height, and windage from various sources of base data.

Key Requirements:

  • 12-20 years of experience in naval architecture, including ship design, vessel digital twins, and fuel performance curves.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in conceptualizing and building container vessel fuel consumption curves and other ship hydrodynamic performance models.
  • Experience in building or running solutions like vessel digital twins, vessel hydrodynamic simulations, and predictive analytics.
  • Excellent appreciation and/or experience in data science subjects, such as simulation, optimization, and machine learning models.
