Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled DMSII Database Administrator to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration, as well as strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication abilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and administer DMSII databases for optimal performance and data integrity.
  • Monitor database performance, space utilization, and availability on Unisys mainframes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Optimize data access by managing sets, subsets, and indexes.
  • Manage backups, journals, and roll-forward recovery procedures to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity.
  • Support schema changes and perform database reorganizations to maintain data consistency and integrity.
  • Collaborate with application and system teams to troubleshoot performance or access issues.
  • Participate in disaster recovery testing and ensure compliance with backup policies.
  • Implement and maintain security, audit trails, and user access controls to protect sensitive data.

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Unisys DMSII database administration and its tools.
  • Experience with DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools.
  • Understanding of journaling, quiet point backups, and roll-forward recovery best practices.
  • Ability to perform performance tuning and troubleshooting to improve overall system performance.
  • Familiarity with COBOL, ALGOL, or other Unisys mainframe application integration.
  • Knowledge of batch jobs, JCL equivalents, and operational support tasks.
  • Basic experience in ODBC/JDBC integration with DMSII.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience as a DMSII DBA or Unisys Mainframe DBA.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice to Have:

  • Exposure to modernization projects (migrating from DMSII to RDBMS/cloud).
  • Knowledge of SQL/relational databases for cross-skill flexibility.
  • Experience in automation scripts for monitoring or DBA tasks.
