Mathematics Researcher - Remote Opportunity

As a remote mathematics researcher, you will play a crucial role in fine-tuning and evaluating large language models (LLMs) to improve their ability to understand and solve complex math problems. Your work will focus on identifying model weaknesses and developing strategies to enhance training and evaluation workflows.

Some of the key tasks you may be assigned include:

  • Determining the number of real symmetric matrices of rank 2 with entries only 0 or 1.
  • Calculating the number of subsets of a 10-element set whose characteristic vector has Hamming weight exactly 3.
  • Finding the distinct 10-digit numbers where the sum of the digits is divisible by 3, and each digit is either 0 or 1.

These tasks are designed to push the boundaries of model performance in mathematics and STEM fields.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A PhD or Postdoc in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Advanced analytical skills to solve complex math problems with structured reasoning.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex topics clearly and provide precise feedback.
  • Research independence to work effectively in a remote research environment.
  • Technical setup including access to a reliable computer and internet connection.
